Hi GameDev! I’m the creator of Pokemon World, an independent Pokemon fan game that runs in the browser. The English version launched in March 2026, and I’d like to share it and hear how the opening experience feels to other developers.

You can start as a guest without downloading anything, choose a first partner, explore Pallet Town and begin building a team. Creating an account lets you save your progress. The game includes catching, training and evolving Pokemon, gyms, PvP, trading and clans.

I’m especially interested in feedback on the first few minutes: are the starter selection and next steps clear, and where would you make the introduction smoother?

Free to start; optional purchases are available. This is an independent fan project, not affiliated with Nintendo, Game Freak or The Pokemon Company. This showcase was prepared with AI assistance.

Brazilian Portuguese edition — 24 October 2026

For developers and players trying the Portuguese localization, our Brazilian edition is Pokémon Arena. It uses a separate account and separate progress from the English server linked above. Guest play is available from its homepage, with no client download. This is the same unofficial fan-project context: free to start with optional purchases, with AI/Codex assistance in development and this update.

Starting as a guest with no download is the right call for a browser game. The question I’d test is how quickly you get to the first catch. If account creation or long dialogue comes before that, it’s where browser players drop off.

Nintendo is famously litigious even with legitimate fangames. Including purchases in this is asking for legal trouble.
