I’ve been on a big Resident Evil kick lately and was before the movie but the movie came out at a great time for it

Been playing 2 myself on the Steam Deck, and switching off on 4 with my spouse on the TV. The remakes are real good. Gonna start Requiem after we finish 4.

that was always the case because people who are aware and give a shit are vastly outnumbered by people who don’t pay attention and just buy games here or there; because they saw a movie and it was on sale.

I don’t get it though. I don’t even own a PS5 or am that interested in it, and I know about the boycott. I just have a presence on Discord and maybe here on Lemmy, so my social media presence isn’t that wide either. So my only conclusion is that the majority (from my POV: literally any person that I don’t know of, regardless of whether they exist or not) knows but doesn’t care.

Yes, this is a good reason why “raising awareness” and boycotts are largely ineffectual, people know, they just are barraged by propaganda into not caring.

First half of the movie was great. The main character is so fucking stupid, it made the movie even scarier than it should be.

Weirdly enough, it didn’t feel like the resident evil games. The on-rails plot in the latter half made the movie feel much closer to the House of The Dead franchise.
