I’ll start off with the good. The way it caused light to reflect off of the floor was very interesting. It reminded me of modern titles when the fog of war went into effect and hallways looked so much more pronounced against a pitch black background.
The bad. This made me nauseous and claustrophobic and I think I started crying a little. Not because of motion or space but because of sheer uncanniness and discomfort. Dlss 5 feels like Chinese water torture condensed into a video game plugin
for your good stuff, you might like the doomsday engine. It brings a more modern lighting to doom.
Took a look and I’ll have to give it a pass. I don’t feel like I’m in hell, being tortured by hellions so it’s much less immersive.
(That is actually pretty neat and I’ll give it a go)
It is all good. I perfer plsy my doom with software rendering over opengl. Woof is the source port I play the most.
Oh shoot, I didn’t realize there were still active source ports. I last played doom like 10 years ago, so all of this new info is super exciting!
There are a few active ones.
You got the fork of gzdoom UZdoom. Dsda-doom which replaced prboom-plus Woof Crispy
Eternity engine - checkout heartland for this source port
I love that this makes so little sense without context. But I’ll definitely have to do some reading before I pick my poison. Thank you so much for elucidating me on this vast
newrefurbished horizon!Yeah no problem. Gzdoom kinda just sucks the air out of all the other source ports.
This was interesting, thanks.
That FOV tho
I believe that is default kex engine doom fov
