I know the word is overused, but my therapist was basically trying to gaslight me. I explained that living under a fascist administration where people are executed in the streets without trial causes stress. His response was, “well, you haven’t actually seen it happen here, so why does it bother you?” I dunno, dude. Empathy, I guess. I kinda thought most humans had that, especially therapists. And there’s nothing stopping it from happening here; given enough time, if nothing changes, it WILL happen here.

We’re supposed to be featureless, unresponsive grey nubs to make slaughtering us easier.

Fuck that. Don’t let anyone put you in a box. They’ll bury you in it.

My new therapist is more understanding, but progress is still slow. I hate living in the United States and I’m scared for what the future might bring.

One thing I really appreciate about my current therapist is he is very clear when he’s trying to reframe things I can’t control to help lessen anxiety. That way it doesn’t feel like he’s downplaying how upsetting something is.

I feel this comrade. You can just be chilling and minding your own business but if it’s slightly off from what they expect they are going to comment on it anyways 😑

The goal post be moving (figuratively)

You can’t win. So the best action is to stop playing if you can. Oddly enough you’ll find people who will appreciate you eventually.
