The years from 1950 to about 1975 have been called “The Golden Age” of higher education in the United States. During that period, the future looked bright and boundless; new campuses sprouted everywhere; and institutional wealth skyrocketed. American higher education enjoyed great esteem and prestige and was widely regarded as the best in the world.

    The end of the article, wrap up/solution was too brief for all the great foreplay.

    Boards need to fire their MBA folks, look at what blaot their institution has acquired (cafeterias with required meal plans, sports, lavish dorms, have an honest review of their academic programs, and shave off some do their admin who support the financialization/endowment/usury higher ed has become. Some colleges also need to fire their boards…
