My dad loves his ‘right’ to say racial slurs so much, especially the n-word because he feels like growing up in a black community and being friends with black people when he was younger gives him a lifetime n-word pass or something. He’s gotten even worse since he got on social media—back to the point of 12 years old levels of edgy racism ‘humor’ and laughing at calling people slurs. I swear he drops the hard r every ten seconds. Similar with my mom although she draws the line at the hard r I guess.
Its funny that my parents wanna be black so bad without acknowledging more than what is blatantly obvious about the black struggle in this country. They’re listening to Tupac songs and worshipping him as the best rapper to ever live without acknowledging who he actually was at all because communism doesn’t fit their worldview. All while claiming the right to say racial slurs and giggle like schoolchildren whenever they find it funny.
Even my cousins can’t stop saying slurs man, I’m so tired of it. Somehow I’m the weird one when I ask them to stop.

In east eu slurs are just normal to say unfortunately, I get your pain. Even the “woke” Ukraine didn’t even try to get rid of it. I really don’t have the energy to be the “woke friend” a lot of the times…
My boss uses slurs in an apparently unaware way. If you listen to him speak, “normal” people are white Germans and sometimes other white Europeans, “foreigner” is the normal word to refer to non lion whites, and insert slut here is the correct way to be more specific as to what kind of PoC is being referred to. Getting called out on it is met with not only a lack of understanding of what the problem is, but so little interest in learning or changing that he just changes the subject.
Which has me wondering if any small business owner in this area is at the very least not racist, but that’s probably too much to ask.

Yeah, this place sucks… I’ve only ever met a handful of decent people who don’t become rabid at the first chance. I have no earthly idea how with these as my material conditions I became a communist.
It seems it’s always been this way. White USians want the superficial culture, and the privilege, not the culture, deep innerstanding, and struggle. And they may struggle, just not because of skin tone.
I find people like this are encouraged by the attention of people asking them to stop. Ignore them, don’t give them a reaction.
If any of my relatives did this I would legit just slap them. Just a firm open palm slap as soon as it left their lips till they stopped. No verbal no explanation just pure negative reinforcement.
I have long learned that lesson myself, unfortunately. Still, I feel like writhing in my skin whenever I simply have to stand there and swallow the slur without any action.
