The earth is very small compared to the sun and very very far away. Imagine you are standing next to a pole and look across a wide empty field at a tree near the horizon. Now step to the other side of the pole and look at the same tree. Looks basically the same, right? But your angle of view on that tree just changed far more than the angle of view of the sun from opposite sides of the Earth. The “side” of the sun they are looking at is 99.9999999999999999999999999999…% the same side.

But not at the same time. It works even better if you take the image a couple days later. A day on the sun takes about 25 days.
