As a “successfull”, if shady and often indecent person, who really tries at this whole “understanding people and how things work” thing, I kinda resent having her lumped-in with me.

Better people than OOP or me, yes, but I’m not going to tell you to break yourself on the non-existant “ladder to success” or throw shade on those who get “ahead” of me.
Depends on the field, I guess. I think the difference in getting ahead is more often in pleasing your superiors than in being objectively the best person at a job.
