The water heater started leaking, the hydrofor started leaking, the pipes had several dead ends, no of it fastened to the walls, and what’s not clear in the 1st picture is the complete mess at the pump.
New water heater, new hydropress, pipes mounted to the walls, re-routed electricity. Re-used what I could, but much is new. My pride: I could not get a flens that fitted the pump (yeah, an industrial one of twice the price of a similar jetpump). I found I could remove the flens and fit a coupling I have in a box for over 30 years and survived 3 moves. Removing it was exciting, it had been in place for 40+ years but I managed without damaging the cast irons pump housing.
There is still some ‘floating’ pipes to fix, but over 95% of the job is done. Man, did that improve the water flow !!!
Nice! Is that pump on a shallow well? I’m guessing those fittings are compression fittings? Are there any significant advantages over soldered joints?

For the the first couple of fittings, i’d say yes. The pump will give some vibration, soldered joints will break rather quick (weeks) so compression or old fashioned hemp and paste with threaded joints. Further down the road there are a few soldered joints
A fresh coat of paint would kill those ‘murder basement’ vibes you got goin on.
Thnx!. It took more time then I thought it would (which is … very common) nearly 12 hours in total. Emptying ( from shelves and stored stuff that was there) ripping it apart and building it back up. But i’m no plumber, it’s not my daily job so it does take me more time.
Maybe I’ll apply some paint, but really, I’m there max. twice a year for filter replacement and pressure check. It’s worth having light, but paint … i’m not so sure.
Looks great! Wish I had the confidence and know how to take on serious plumbing work like this.

Just read (a lot) about it, then start small. Maybe get someone experienced to help you out where wanted/needed. Confidence and knowledge is only gained by doing.

Thnx. I assume you mean the water heater. That’s just the model and though standing models are available, it’s quite common in Europe to have them wall mounted.
No filter bypass?
Also that screw on the top of your pressure tank isn’t for pressure monitoring. They are normally for mounting a pump, or for a ring to use a crane to more them around.

I got instructed by the supplier that it’s just that what’s it’s for. You can choose to use a blind-plug to seal it off, or -like I did- use it for water pressure monitoring. No one will hook it to a crane ( empty it’s way less than 20Kg )

Wow! Do you do any maintenance on your pump? When we bought our house (our first with a well) the guy I had come take a look at everything looked at me like I had two heads when I asked.
Did you have to reprime the pump? For some reason this terrifies me to have to do.
As far as I know they are quite maintenance-free, and did not notice anything needing attention or love

Out of curiosity I took out the primer bolt and had a look. There is a back-valve so there is no need for that. Priming is no big deal. Make sure the system is not pressurized (you don’t want the bolt being shot into your face, nor flood the floor). Take out the bolt, fill with water to the brim, replace the bolt and you’re good to go.
