Prime Minister Peter Magyar said on Sunday that he would ask Judit Polgar, widely regarded as the greatest female chess player of all ​time, to take up the largely ceremonial role of Hungary’s ‌next President.

Magyar said in a Facebook post that Polgar, 49, could represent the nation’s unity, and that on Monday he would meet Polgar and ask her if she would accept ​the nomination.

    Sounds like a smart move to pick someone from outside the political establishment who nevertheless engenders a grounded national pride and sense of achievement

    I feel like it is a very positive symbol, although I don’t know much about Hungarian political system, I don’t know what are the roles and powers of the President in Hungary.
