  • They are much pricier compared to other EU based suppliers: comparing basic PLA, from prusa it is 27.5€/kg with the 2kg spool, Dasfilament and Fiberlogy give you about 16€/kg with their big spools.

I like Prusament, I have bought many spools and just yesterday I received my Prusament ASA “signal white”. For PLA, Galaxy black is one of my favorites and I buy it regularly. For the rest, I don’t see why pay so much more when the cheaper option are also good quality and give me perfectly good results and no trouble.

I am currently printing my MMU3 upgrade with Dasfilament PETG and it works great, came perfectly dry out of the bag, no strings, prints perfectly. 21€/kg vs 33€/kg Prusament.

  • What makes the quality is the exact composition of the plastic (additives, color pigments), the consistency and accuracy of the diameter along the filament and how dry it comes out of the bag.

Bad composition could be very bad for bed adhesion and make the filament unusable.

Bad diameter will cause mostly visual quality defects

Humidifier will cause bubbles and strings, can be fixed by drying the filament.

Back when I started I ended up with some very poop quality filament that I paid way over priced ! Nowadays I have the feeling the cheep stuff is pretty good after some drying. At least as far as PLA goes.
