Maternal mortality in Texas has risen by 56% since the state’s first abortion ban was passed in 2021. Now, women of reproductive age say they fear for their lives as medical providers face the potential of harsh penalties for performing abortions.

What a terrible situation for these women. I can’t imagine my state actively wanting me to die vs terminating an unhealthy pregnancy. Ken Paxton and the rest of the anti-abortion republicans have blood on their hands.

It’s like they feed on the suffering of others.

That’s fair. Pregnancy is dangerous work.

The fall of Roe has likely done more to reduce the birth rate and push women back from relationships with men than Republicans will ever understand.

A little off topic but relevant. If you are a woman in a state where you are a second class citizen, be careful with period trackers and high end biometric personal devices. (these can now accurately predict pregnancy simply based on changes to vitals.) RFK, Blanch, and the pro life movement are pushing for “health” trackers to be on every American. Add in Ai’s ability to analyze large amounts of data; someone like Paxton could know you are pregnant even before you do. The implications alone.

You can order these even if you’re not pregnant for possible future use. I think the expiration is two years out.
