When I think of method acting I think of Daniel Day Lewis. And him trying to act like a prisoner and what lengths he would go for the “realism”
There’s a famous (possibly true) Hollywood story where Brad Davis meets
Laurence Olivier at a party. Davis is filming Midnight Express and is struggling with the role. He’s been starving himself, sleeping as little as possible, doing everything he can to get in the mindset of an inmate at a brutal prison, but still isn’t satisfied with his performance.
Meeting a Hollywood icon and one of his idols, he asks Olivier for advice.
Olivier looks down his glasses at his and says “well son, have you tried acting?”
I’m pretty sure some have done exactly that.
Tobias Fünke did exactly this.
With newer films having 100 million USD budgets, they could just build a cell for the actress or actor to stay in.
