People need to stop voting for him and those like him. Unfortunately , the GOP is full of people who vote for trash
If you’re a therapist treating a guy like this, how do you maintain your professionalism when you so want to undermine his treatment?
I am not a therapist, but I’ve been around it enough to know that it’s really not an issue. There are roughly two kinds of people who go into therapy: those who genuinely want to change and are willing to do whatever it takes to get better, and those who simply want to remove the discomforts of continuing as they are.
The first type is willing to look at uncomfortable truths, and to consider new ways of thinking they have not previously allowed. The second type can’t handle anything deeper than a superficial digging around into what’s causing their pain, and the closer they get to their own truths the more combative/hostile/evasive they become.
Which is to say that therapy doesn’t work if you lie your way through it, and we already know this dude is not a fan of truth: he’s been lying for close to four months, and he may still be lying now. Instead of giving even a partial reason, he left the world with complete radio silence instead. So if he’s afraid of revealing even the most basic of his own truths to start with, therapy isn’t going to do much for him, even as a part of a comprehensive rehab approach.
That’s not really on the therapist, that’s on the client. And there are a range of therapists as well: a therapist who’s in it for the paycheck can sit back and not try too hard, letting him talk the same old shit without challenging him on it too much; one who is more genuine can simply call him out on his bullshit until he self-selects out OR the therapist gets tired of it and says, “You’d have a better fit with another therapist.”
But honestly, I have my serious doubts about whether it’s even true that he was in treatment for depression. Tom Kean was missing for three and a half months, able to do stock trades by phone and sign forms for his staff, but entirely incommunicado otherwise, as though he was not forbidden contact with the outside world but access to it was limited. Members of Congress have readily fessed up to far worse than depression. Something is truly fishy about the entire thing, IMO. He was completely gone until he was not, and then he was acting as though nothing ever happened. My guess is that eventually we’re going to find out he was in jail in Thailand or some shit.
That actually sounds more like rehab, which is a possibility. Kind of hard to keep these this hidden, though.
Yeah, I was thinking that, but I kept coming up short: usually in rehab there are tight controls not just on outside communication, but on limiting who the person can call. I’ve never known anyone in rehab that was able to call out and do work, for example, but Kean did: he was signing forms for his staff and making stock trades on his phone.
If your depression is so bad you’re in a comprehensive rehab for it, what are you going to be physically able to do, and if you do feel up to it, are they even going to let you do it? But when he disappeared he seemed perfectly fine, and then came back seeming perfectly fine, with no indications on either end of anything really being wrong.
I know, depression takes many forms. You could be totally right. But it’s still just odd for a rehab scenario IMO.
You look at your bank account after charging him 500 for a 50 min therapy session
Do we even need to ask his party affiliation?
New Jersey.
No we don’t, it’s in the post multiple times.
If anyone ever needed more proof that elected representatives don’t care about the people they represent, here you go.
Generalizations are fun. Have you met Mamdani or AoC? Theyre elected too. Have you considered only voting for the least scumbaggy people And not the elitist narcissists?
Whoa there buddy, conservatives vote based on who has an ® next to their name. You can leave your emotional laden words like scumbaggy, elitists, or narcissists at the door.
