One thing I don’t understand is why there has been no progress in excavating at least some of the anomalies that were reported as being possible graves. There has been federal government money supplied, and in at least one case it has been cut because of a lack of accountability.
The article doesn’t explain why, as far as I can see, not a single grave has been examined from any of the sites.
There have been a few. Some of them haven’t found anything, and some have.
There is no consensus about whether to excavate and potentially disturb the burial sites.
The first link you supplied is indeed about Graves that have been discovered. It doesn’t look like this is related to the stories that caught all the headlines five years ago. Ground-penetrating radar, anomalies that might be graves, etc.
It is somewhat mystifying to me why some people are resisting the process, saying that they wish the site to remain undisturbed. If they don’t know for sure that it is a burial site, why would it be sacred?
