Republican senators are looking for a way to avoid the political hit they took on abortion rights in the 2022 midterm election, when they suffered a net loss of one seat, as Senate Democrats ramp up to make it a top issue in 2024.  Republicans think they have a great opportunity to recapture the Senate next year, as…

Several recent court cases are helping to fight gerrymandering. Lets hope this continues. Changing the rules/maps to disenfranchise the votes of US citizens should be illegal.

As a resident of one of the states that has been involved in those suits (NC) I do like that they prevented things from getting worse. However those cases won’t overturn already gerrymandered districts. In some cases courts have ruled that districts were gerrymandered and demanded new maps so every time republicans submitted even worse maps just gumming up the system until they were looked in for the next election cycle and there were no consequences

Gerrymandering and other cheating tactics do not work in the face of overwhelming majorities.

So vote. And hound your friends to vote.

And consider writing letters to motivate strangers to vote as well.

      • Hey, I’ve voted in every single election I was eligible for since I turned 18! Still, there seems to be around 30% of America fully convinced that everyone with D after their name is backed by Satan. I just don’t think there’s any changing their mind and that doesn’t even account for the “reasonable” republicans. Aka, people with the same beliefs, they just know not to shout it all the time

gerrymandering also doesn’t have any effect on the senate. i feel like 90% of people on the internet who talk about gerrymandering have no idea what it is

I mean, technically yeah the Senate isn’t possible to gerrymander, but by design it is basically gerrymandered already

Well here is a thought, knuckleheads, hows about supporting women’s reproductive health rights?

Crazy how focusing on what fundies want rather than trying to bring back manufacturing jobs or improving infrastructure means you lose votes.

Who could have possibly seen this coming.

Good, let it hurt their chances.

They shouldn’t be able to tell women, or anyone, what can be done with their bodies and reproductive health.

    Rights for preborn

Okay, lets go all the way with that. We need to assure future housing, so let’s build homes and apartments instead of another office building or shopping mall. Also the preborn will need healthcare, so we’re going to have to funnel tax money into public Healthcare reform. Those preborn deserve great doctors when they join the world, after all. Now they’re going to need secure access to good food, clean water, and healthy air, so let’s start banning fossil fuels and switch to nuclear and renewable energy sources. Oh and someone make a note, the EPA needs to have the power to shut down business that pollute, no more of this namby-pamby “fines” junk, time for criminal charges and businesses going bye-bye. Gonna need to get rid of the crop-genetics monopolies too, we need healthy and numerous varieties of food from a diverse network of farms. Good first meeting, group! Next meeting bring one page of ideas for undoing the damage to the climate that’s already been done, and be ready for abolishing slavery worldwide once and for all.

Hopefully I didn’t misunderstand the poster, cause it seemed like it was someone using the ‘unborn’ as a shill group again. But fight fire with fire, right?
