Daveigh Elizabeth Chase (born Chase-Schwallier; July 24, 1990 – June 16, 2026) /dəˈveɪ/ də-VAY[1] was an American actress. She first came to prominence as a child actress, portraying Samantha Darko in the cult classic film Donnie Darko (2001) and voicing the characters of Chihiro Ogino in the English dub of the Studio Ghibli film Spirited Away (2001) and Lilo Pelekai in the Walt Disney Animation Studios animated feature film Lilo & Stitch (2002). For her performance in the latter, she won an Annie Award in 2003, and she continued to voice Lilo in its subsequent media franchise.
Well this is a HELL OF A WAY to find out someone died
Sad that funding for treatment may have been a factor in her death. If only there was universal health care.
I think she and her family were pretty rich tho.
If you read, she was estranged from her family and faced housing instability. Her post-acting life was not good and she needed social help long before her illness.
Wot? Read an article?
Ok. My bad. Yes, social support and medical access should be available to all, obviously. What a sad story.
Perhaps. But not enough they they didn’t need a go fund me.
or existed
Yeah never imagined S. Darko, Spirited Away, and Lilo (and Stich) were all the same person
Must have been a good actor
seems likely had anorexia(the wiki state she had malnutrion, and weightloss) which can be ED or another disease. due to that weakened immune system she had blood infection and that resulted in meningitis( the bacterium responsible for meningitis)

Sorry. I saw it several times posted on entertainment (and horror) pages.

This is just a friendly reminder not to donate to the GoFundMe set up by her “boyfriend” to pay for funeral expenses. All of her funeral and other final expenses are fully paid for by the Screen Actors Guild.
This “boyfriend” is the same person who claims to have been by her side while she was malnourished and living completely homeless while her family was actively searching for her because they found a photo of her online, deathly skinny and living on the street.
Yet another victim of the grinder that is the entertainment industry. All persons, young and beautiful, must be chucked into the media grinder for the insatiable appetite of the public and industry. Whoever survives is spat out like gristle.
Had no idea that Lilo’s voice actress was Rhonda from big love… woof, that’s a talented range.
Damn, we just watched the 2002 Lilo & Stitch tonight. So sad to learn this. RIP
No mention of The Ring!? Tragic she went so young, rest in power queen
It mentions the ring several times
Its well known Hollywood eats many of its child stars.
