Yes, you paid for 2 day shipping and that’s what they use, but they don’t tell you about the nearly week-long handling time.
As a buyer, I like this. Then I know how much of the total transit time is the actual courier and how much of it is the seller finally getting around to giving the package to the courier after printing the label.
Yeah, I sell stuff on eBay sometimes. I was shocked when I printed the shipping label and eBay told the customer I had shipped the product already. Like, hold up. I’m preparing to ship. I can’t ship until tomorrow.
Not sure why that’s the default behavior. Now I wait until the last second to print the label.
They get bulk discounts for shipping, so they save up their weekly orders and take them all in on Friday.
Pretty standard for a lot of smaller shops, saves the owner daily trips too.
Not a big deal as long as that’s communicated to customers ahead of time. Really frustrating when it isn’t.
Last mile logistics got nothing on the first mile
I had this for a long time with parcels from US to EU. They moved from the sender to the distribution center in half an hour. A week or two later, they moved it to the airport. Another week or two or three later, it was actually flown to Frankfurt. One day for customs, and the next day it was here.
Not once. Each and every packet from my monthly subscription. I usually got the announcement of next months delivery before I got the last one.
Whenever I sell something I ship it out either the same day or next day since I go past the post office at the same time every day in the afternoon.
Me, too, when I used to sell my old crap on eBay. I feel like it’s just common courtesy. Basically I’d go an hour before they closed and ship out all the orders for the day.
It’s annoying for sure. I tend to adjust my expectations if the item is used (ala ebay, etc) or from a boutique outfit that makes things in limited batches.
I move stuff out on the next business day if I’m in town, specifically because this kind of thing infuriates me. If I’m not at work when your order comes through and the post office is still open I’ll send it out right then.
You all have seen that episode of I Love Lucy with the conveyor belt at the candy factory? I don’t need that happening to me. Get that off my plate, thanks.
