This was almost shocking for a western pub. No cope, no “but at what cost?” Just factual reporting on measurable health improvements in China. The closest thing to criticism was this:
The researchers’ conclusion is pointed: to extend the health benefits, China needs to accelerate the electrification of heavy-duty diesel vehicles and push NEV deployment into lower-income regions.
No mention here about how the Global North is doing next to nothing when compared to China’s efforts. But later in the article, they do at least say, “That’s the next frontier, and it’s one China is already attacking — electric and hybrid semi truck sales topped 231,000 units there in 2025.”
And the article’s conclusion goes even further:
The uncomfortable question for the rest of the world: China is now banking measurable, life-saving health benefits from a transition that the US is actively trying to slow down. Who ends up breathing cleaner air, and who doesn’t, is increasingly a policy choice.
The Sheep Look Up is getting closer to becoming our reality every day.
It’s 2050
China: Star Trek
US: Idiocracy
very optimistic of you to assume that the turd reich is going to last that long
Balkanized US can’t come soon enough.
truly
I really dislike people thinking the murderous and genocidal usa is “Idiocracy” when in Idiocracy people wanted what’s best for them and the government worked towards it, to the best of their limited abilities. People were just at a mental disadvantage…
I actually have my own misgivings about that movie and its near-eugenics assumptions, but I hear you. It would actually be a major improvement for the world if the US was like that. Instead its the most successful genocidal settler colony, hellbent on maintaining its slipping grip on power. Sometimes I fear the worst from this dying empire, but I also hope the emerging multipolar world will succeed in slowly suffocating it on its death bed.
