I always feel weird that I can find what I’m looking for faster the less organized I am. Every time I organize all of my stuff into something that makes sense to me, I’ll spend a ton of time looking for something. Meanwhile if it’s disorganized and a mess, I can find anything immediately.

I had somewhat the opposite experience. I was moving and had something I didn’t want to forget so I stuck it somewhere. I just found it a few weeks ago stuffed under the passenger seat of my car. I moved 9 years ago…

Have you checked both of your hands?

That’s not a joke. I once did 2 laps around a work office looking for paperwork that was in my hand the entire time.

I do this all the time. Worse its not a safe place its the place I put it in so I would be sure not to forget it.

I have a small method I use. If I cannot find something and am searching for it. I take a mental note of the first place I looked for. Then, when I eventually find it, I put it back at the place I first thought of looking, because it must be a “logical” place for this thing to be.

I lost two pairs of keys this way. I’m sure they’re still in the house and I checked everywhere. I still don’t know where the fuck they can be.

I don’t know where it is, but I know I put it somewhere very convenient and logical. So. There…?
