You got it!
I’m about to be a Dad for the first time in… a few days? Less than 2 weeks! I’m glad there’s a community here to discuss. I will be raising a communist antifa super soldier, like most of you.
Congrats! You’re gonna do great! Your Sorosbucks are in the mail!
Yay!! Thanks y’all! :-)
Congrats. That time is hard because you’ll be up at all hours, but also easy because the only thing you need to do is feed the baby and let it sleep. They don’t do much else
Congratulations! The first few weeks/months can be difficult, but you got this!
Thank you, I’m super excited. I’m due for 12 weeks paid paternity leave - thank you Washington state - so at this point I’m Soooooo ready for baby to be born so I can be done with work till the Fall…
My boy is about to turn three and he’s so incredibly physical in his interactions with the world. He’s obssessed with riding his bike and playing baseball, constantly climbing and wrestling, loves toys with a strong physicality like hot wheels or magnet tiles. He’s such a little fuckin animal.
Haha my son is like this to. That’s social conditioning for you. None of those things are things I’m that into. Were thinking about signing him up for soccer later this year. He’ll probably love it.
Little Beaver is growing into toddlerhood, with all the fun and meltdowns that entails. I’ve noticed a lot of behavior changes since she’s moved into the toddler room at daycare - she must be observing others and imitating them. In particular, she’s been wanting to sit on the toilet already, even though it seems way too early yet.
My two youngest are both now high schoolers. My baby girl is a hs freshman now.
It’s such an odd thing to think about. I remember staying awake all night when they were sick, holding them when they were babies. I think about teaching my kids to ride bicycles. I think about teaching my 22yo to drive. I’ve recently been letting my 13&14 yo’s drive on the back county roads, and on the beach.
I’m a grandparent now. My 22yo has two kids himself, and is doing all the new parent things I remember doing for him. Watching my kids grow up and face the same things I did, and how they navigate the world is so far out. I’ve talked to my parents about how they felt watching their grandkids grow up, and how I feel watching my own grandkids grow up. It’s so wild calling myself a grandparent. My kids were just babbies a couple weeks ago weren’t they?
My oldest is turning 6 later this year. I can’t believe how fast we’ve gotten to this point. I know there is still so much time left with all of them but it feels like they are just slipping through my fingers.
Baby Chameleon is almost 1!! They’ll take a lot of steps and fall over but gonna be running soon I’m sure. We’ve also learned how to put things back into containers, which is super cool for toys, not super cool for snacks that have been taste tested.
I remember my kids loving that. They would pick up a container and just go around collecting things in it. I bought a nice bottle of scotch one time that came in the cardboard tube box and we ended up keeping that for a couple of weeks because they liked putting things in there
The kids were sick last week but nothing too bad. We had a weekend at home as a result and it ended up being really nice.
One of the few times we went out we ran into some other families at our childcare centre. We were in the IRL Hammerbarn right next to the play equipment so we let the kids wild out whilst we hung around with the other parents.
I went for a bike ride with a local group I haven’t done anything with in ages on Sunday. My girlfriend took the kids out whilst I was riding and whenever she takes the kids out with her mother they’re gone for hours. So I had some time to myself, which was nice. I’m editing some videos for a local Socialists In Schools group so I made a start on that.
And the mother in law hasn’t gotten her car serviced in years so it has blown up and is now not worth anything. I’ve been taking the kids to care on the way to work as a result. I was riding the ebike and letting her take them in my car, but now I’m driving them as a bit of a lesson for not looking after her own car. She had one job and couldn’t put her hand on her pocket to keep her car going.
We’re going to look into a new car soon, it’s the time to move as there are end of financial year sales around now so it’s time to buy. I also want to make sure the MIL doesn’t do anything stupid with trying to sell her car or buying another one, so all the more reason to act.
It’s finally summer break! I have a lot to say about this year but need time to write it all out. I’m very excited to spend time at home with the little fish for two months.
