I always assumed the term is used specifically to differentiate it from “working days”, but talking to my bank today they claimed that “calendar days” doesn’t include weekends and bank holidays.

Your interpretation is right, your bank is confused.
Of course, that’s what calendar days are, your bank has it backwards.
they should have said business days. that means no weekends and holidays. calendar days sounds to me like your intentionally saying all days are considered.
I’m struggling to think of any days that aren’t on the calendar.
