I’m straight up ascending!

Comments on trailer: The lighting feels “cinematic” with heavy use of bright lights and dimly lit scenes. Not sure I’m a big fan of that. I’d like to be able to see the scene properly. Hopefully this is just a trailer thing.
I like the art direction overall, but it’s a bit hard to make too many judgements just from this.
i thought kagurabachi was a joke, did it somehow become self sustaining or was it always good, can someone please explain to me if it contains unique story telling with sensible and self consistent narratives?
- People made it into a joke because it looked edgy at first
- It was always good. Just needed a few chapters for the momentum to get going.
- It contains unique storytelling. The rythm of the story is at a fast, steady and enjoyable pace. I never felt it dragged on any part
- The narrative is about a naive battle shonen protagonist slamming headfirst into the dark side of a crime-riddled post-war society and finding out that the world is like way more complex than he first thought.
Takes a while for this narrative to get going but all the early arcs were clearly building upto it in hindsight. There’s clear planning.
It started as a joke because in one of the first chapters he says “everyday i wake up with fresh hatred”
Crazy how Chihiro’s early chapter edginess acts as a foil to his current worldview showcasing his growth as a person while also acting as a parallel to the antagonist’s ideology thus highlighting just how immature the sword saint really is.
It’s almost like the story was planned out hmmm
spoiler for part 1
If you think about it, soga was literally locked up after the war as an 18 year old so it’s like if chapter 1 chihiro killed “evildoers” then got put basically frozen in time and never met hakuri or samura or anybody else to stimulate his development.
