Answer: It was determined and made public that the majority of posts on that sub are from 3 accounts all based in Russia and are promoted by an army of bots.
The ones leaving were bots removed by Reddit

I haven’t been able to verify the bot/troll claim… when was it made public by Reddit?
I only very briefly skimmed the thread on reddit but it looks like some of these claims were dialled back a bit.
To the surprise of no one we can conclude that the sub, and reddit generally, are full of bots spreading disinfo.
We can assume that the volume and extent is greater than most people would realise, but actually pinning that down with hard evidence is complicated and nuanced.

But how are you drawing that conclusion? I read the thread in depth and it makes a strong case. It would not surprise me at all to learn that it was true, but I haven’t been able to find where it was confirmed.
