      Liberal as in Progressive economically & socially (opposite of Conservative/reactionary), pro-capitalism, pro privatisation (as opposed to socialism).

      The actual definition of Liberal which neither US or Oz use “correctly” (or to be more accurate has been twisted for political purposes).

      IOW the “wets” of the Aus Libs if you can remember Hewson etc.

      In most European countries he’s a centrist, He’s formerly in coalition with 2 centre left parties, so the combined coalition is Centre Left. Possibly slightly left of the Aust Labor Party without comparing policies (given that like British Labour they have some strong rightward tendencies)

        It would be easier to just describe what he and his party try to achieve than to use multipurposed words. Center, left, right have all different meanings depending on how the local political system works
