IF they are looking for a storyteller, THEN they need to filter for competence in these understandings, which are the bedrock of storytelling:
- “The Anatomy of Genre”, John Truby, on the 14 genres that the West has locked onto, & how each 1 is specific to developing 1 dimension of human meaning. This is the most important psychology-book in the set.
- “Presenting to Win”, Jerry Weissman, on getting the STORY of presenting right. Not being competent in this, for that job, would be idiotic. ( invest in his whole trilogy )
- “The Anatomy of Story”, Truby again, on the 21-ish steps in a true story, & why they are in the places they need to be.
- “The Story Grid”, Coyne, this is THE editing-book for story.
