A Tomahawk missile was identified, which the US used to strike a girls’ school in Minab, Iran. This is a modified version of the Tomahawk Block IV missile (also known as Tactical Tomahawk or TLAM-E). Unlike older versions, the Block IV is equipped with two-way satellite communication (UHF SATCOM). The operator can change the missile’s target while it is already in the air.
The missile that destroyed the school was manufactured in September 2014 and has the serial number N00019-14-C-007. The production of these missiles is concentrated in Arizona at the facilities of Raytheon (now part of the RTX corporation).
The strike on the school in Minab took place on February 28, 2026, the first day of the war against Iran. According to a statement by the press secretary of the Iranian Ministry of Health, about 180 people were killed in the strike, most of whom were girls aged 7 to 12 years.
