Question already above; i’ve heard alot about a very negative relation between the two and wanted to know how much water it held ^^
Almost zero, in the long term. There is one famous episode when Stalin was rude to Krupskaya and Lenin got angry and demanded apology which Stalin did (it also might influence the infamous and almost certainly forged so called “Lenin’s testament”), but people seems to project that on the entire 18 years of relations, which is false, they did had good personal and very good political relations, especially that Lenin was well known for personally befriending people with whom he agreed politically and not liking people with whom he disagreed politically. You can easily see this when analysing Lenin’s relations with let’s say Martov, Plekhanov, Kautsky etc.
i didn’t know he was known for not liking people he disagreed with. in that case, how was his relationship with trotsky? obviously trotsky was an annoying guy who made children cry but lenin wasn’t alive for the worst of what he did.
Trotsky in years between 1903-1917 usually tried to position himself between bolsheviks and mensheviks. He also tried to portray himself as mediator between the two but he usually (not always) sided with mensheviks. Needles to say Lenin was not fond of such wobbly political stance and greatly distrusted and often criticised Trotsky. In 1917 Trotsky finally joined bolsheviks and proven his organisational talents, he also came under the political influence of Lenin so the relations warmed, although Lenin still distrusted him. Ultimate colding came with Brest treaty where Trotsky basically sabotaged it and Lenin was furious at him, at this point he never trusted Trotsky again.
Trotsky was such a clown.

Before one wants to learn more about Stalin what’s important to keep in mind is that It’s very convenient, for a lot of actors, to paint Stalin as the most evil human being that’s ever existed. The dynamics of the leadership are very complex and multi-layered. It’s also politics so naturally there will be fierce debates, even between allies and friends. A lot of things just weren’t documented, a lot of information may have been forged, destroyed, tampered with otherwise, a lot of stuff is still in the secret archives, classified.
I know this is a really boring materialist answer, but one thing is for certain like someone else pointed out, if Lenin had real beef with Stalin we would have heard it from his notes, the guy was not exactly shy from talking smack about people he disliked.
