    You can buy enough land for a commune with just $500

    It is turning that land into something that you are willing to live on is what is either a bunch of work or a boatload of money

      People live in vans. But in the UK I am not aware of any legal option for buying a cheap patch of land and living on it in a temporary structure - you are allowed the structure, but can’t live in it.

    You already live in a commune it is called merikkka. You can’t avoid it you have to change it. I don’t care for either parties or yankee doodle culture but living in the woods that are soon to cut down does not seem like a long term strategy.
