Ofc they know, bigotry and nationalism is something that’s explicitly taught by bourgeois superstructures (media/schools/leftover protected tradition/etc). If it was a simple deal people had been offered for “comfort”, there wouldn’t be a need for bourgeois to drill into peasantoid minds the concept of a nation for a hundred years, or for them to create eugenics as a pseudoscience to justify racial supremacy…
This applies to every single nation in existence btw, not just US. Sweden still had state enforced eugenics until 2013
