58 per cent of Canadians surveyed said they no longer view the U.S. as a reliable ally

Over two-thirds of Canadians said the U.S. tends to create problems for other countries rather than solve them

Yep. At this point, I don’t even call myself American anymore. So when people ask me what my nationality is, I mention I’m from my home state instead of saying I’m an American.

biggest military, right on the border. yeah bigger threat 100%. Really though the USA stopped being independent once the constitution was no longer being followed. Its now basically a captive state. Basically the USA existed between ratification of the constituition and 2026 and maybe if it throws off the yoke will continue. People bring up the civil war but half the country was still controlled by the USA at that time so it was really not as bad.

Oh, has complying with the genocidal empire backfired? How could this be? Surely, making decisions that affect tens of millions of people oriented toward the capitalist imperatives of infinite growth and profit could never hurt those people?

“Canadians say U.S. … is bigger threat [to us] than Russia”

World’s longest undefended border may have something to do with that.

Note: ask any country in Latin America, the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, Africa, or the Arabian/Persian Gulf who is a bigger threat, you’ll get the same answer. Some might say China is forgotten from the list.

Canadians are breaking through the propaganda, finally. Contra-American sentiment or a political anti-American stance has probably not been this rooted since 1812.

I’m sure that for Taiwan and South Korea, China is the biggest threat. For Poland, the biggest threat is Russia. It’s obvious why the US is the biggest threat for Canada.

Even if the border weren’t open and undefended, the two countries’ economies have been getting more and more integrated for decades. Canada’s economy depends on a stable and sane USA. For a long time that was a safe bet, but now the US is attacking Canada. And, even if it weren’t for the tariffs and other attacks, the absolute chaos that Trump is doing to the American economy would reverberate into Canada’s economy.

This is gonna end in a very sad, and devastating way for us (US). Unfortunately, I’m too fucking poor and ill to get the hell off this god-damned Continent.

Our hegemony was going to end one way or the other, sooner or later. I just didn’t think it would be done by some fucking dipshit dousing everything with kerosene and blowing everything up with a tactical nuke while pooping himself.

But hey, those libs sure got owned.

To my own ignorance (and selfishness), I never imagined it would happen within my lifetime. The nukes well, I grew up during the Cold War days, so nukes were always a nightmarish possibility. I mean fuck… we wrote books, and made movies about it!

Well yeah, anything that weakens NATO is red meat for him. So to speak.

It’s regrettable to give Putin any comfort, but I don’t think Canadians are wrong here. The US is firmly in its ‘flailing and desperately externalising’ phase of imperial decline, and I think a GB-style “soft landing” of the American empire is too much to hope for.

“It would be so much easier for Canada if they just agreed to join the US.”

Most threatening line from all Trump’s attacks for me. It might seem harmless but it reads: “it would be so much easier for you (for the US) if you just stop struggling.”

It’s because deep down he knows he’s a weak, pathetic, insignificant man and needs to hurt the most vulnerable to feel powerful.

I don’t even think he’s actually sexually attracted to children. I think he gets off on causing lifelong suffering, and the more vulnerable the person he’s breaking is, the better it feels. Children are the most vulnerable and he can do the most damage to them.

What is the difference between Russia and the US?

Just this week, Kirill Dmitriev, Putin’s “economic envoy” who also serves as CEO of Russia’s Direct Investment Fund, pitches joint US-Russia projects of 14 trillion USD, contingent on a peace agreement in Ukraine and the lifting of Western sanctions.

Also this week we heard that Gentry Beach, a US investor with close ties to the Trump family, signed an agreement with Russia’s energy giant Novatek already last autumn to develop natural gas in Alaska amid Western sanctions against Russia.

Trump’s negotiators for peace in Ukraine are Steven Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, two real estate developers and investor. What do they negotiate?

If such polls are useful at all then only to distract from reality. That helps autocratic regimes as they make autocratic regimes like Russia and China look as the lesser evil. It’s not true, though.

Russia is honestly just a worse version of the USA at this point with all the same problems and a little more extreme hate of lgbtq community.

But that’s not really surprising given their history.

In case you haven’t notice the kinds of shit the Techbros are loudly pushing, the US most definitelly does things at the behest of its own fatcats first and foremost.

Granted, their interestest seem to be aligned in the most with mainly Israel and also partly Russia.

With this administration they’re at least screwing their own citizens as well, besides the rest of the world that is.
