I would recommend Linux also for people who can run Windows 10 or 11.
Linux, or Windows 11 Enterprise IoT LTSC if you can’t ditch Windows
I agree. Last I checked you can actually get a copy of Enterprise LTSC for free (I think it involved pulling from M$ archives, maybe archive.org), and it comes with M$ Office for Business, aka individual apps, pre 365 trash. You won’t get the latest malware or OTA bug pushes, or even the latest in forced advertising widgets or AI creativity replacements. Wouldn’t hurt to put it through Win11Debloat and O&OShutUp10

You can download whatever ISO you want, and then once installed use the activation script that actually generates a legitimate activation with Microsoft. No sketchy cracks or keygens needed.
OOShutup10 works good.
Even that doesn’t bring normal Windows 10 close to the IoT versions from my experience; it debloats it pretty good but not enough.
It’s the best legal option for sure.
ya that’s true. I use multiple other things as well. Script to remove copilot and i forget how i got rid of Onedrive. Its a constant battle.
I think we have been taught from birth that we can and should have it all. The most expensive car, the biggest house, the most powerful phone. It is a lie and its becoming increasingly unattainable for more people. It is pure consumerism and doesn’t make anyone happier. In truth people are lucky to have any sort of home which is a fucking travesty and an indictment on our society and politics. A 3 year old phone is still a phone. In a city you often don’t need a car at all, certainly you don’t need a lease for a massive truck that consumes all your income.
Windows has more and better software available than Linux (most free and open source software also runs on Windows). Most people don’t need it. Downscale your life and be happy.
Most home users use a PC for internet browsing, watching videos, gaming and maybe a bit of basic word processing - all of which Linux does well and for free.
So yes absolutely, vast majority of people should stop wasting money paying for software licenses and go free.
The Linux part is a bit of an afterthought in that announcement but it’d be pretty cool if they’d just go all in. They admit they’re the main browser of most Linux distros after all, why not give a specific setup a shout-out? Most of the confusion in switching is in distro and interface, after all.
In fairness to Mozilla, Firefox and Thunderbird are platform agnostic. It’s not really for them to tell users what OS to use. It’d cause them more aggro than its worth from all the people who have differing opinions on what the best OS is or the best distro to use. It’s already a tightrope act keeping their users happy when they announce things like AI in the browser. I think they’re right to focus on their own areas of interest.
True. Maybe a guide that mentions the big names would suffice? I have a friend scared away with the choice paralysis.

The issue is the “some problem” with windows literally cannot be fixed and they’re asking for a solution.
I don’t think I expressed the right intent with this meme. I’m 💯 with you. 😄
Have you tried sfc /scannow ?
~ $ sfc /scannow No command sfc found
Meanwhile Mozilla is focusing on AI…
Meanwhile
Mozillaevery fucking large tech corporation is focusing on AI…ftfy
That is an issue, one that is being discussed and can be turned off currently. Meanwhile Microsoft is head deep in AI so much they’re renaming known trademarks into their AI brand. So… I don’t think Mozilla is the bigger problem.
