Prosecutor says ‘newly discovered evidence’ in case against Alfredo Alejandro Aljorna and Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis ‘materially inconsistent with the allegations against them’

Federal prosecutors in Minneapolis have moved to drop felony assault charges against two Venezuelan men, including one shot in the leg by an immigration officer, after new evidence emerged undercutting the government’s version of events.

In a filing on Thursday, the US attorney’s office for the district of Minnesota said “newly discovered evidence” in the criminal case against Alfredo Alejandro Aljorna and Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis “is materially inconsistent with the allegations against them” made in a criminal complaint and a court hearing last month.

The government’s motion asked the judge for “dismissal with prejudice”, meaning the charges against the two men cannot be resubmitted.

They lied to intimidate and put these people in jail, yet again. At some point we need consequences for the DoJ’s reckless behaviour.

That’s the most bothersome part of this story–the ICE agent flat-out lied but they still get no reprimand or consequences. They can pull every dirty trick they want, while the people they terrorize have to fight with 1 hand tied behind their back.

They’re having staffing problems in prisons because corrections officers keep leaving for ICE. And as prison guards, they’re used to being able to freely abuse people and cover it up with the thinnest of lies. Actually being called out on it must be a shock for them

“Reckless” is downplaying it. They know exactly what they’re doing, they’re doing it on purpose, and the correct word to describe it is tyrannical.

They were hired by ICE…according to recent info…they lie on their applications… fail drug tests and background checks. They aren’t hired for their integrity - because they don’t have any.

I dunno. I suspect they are a bunch of mouth-breathers, so you might need to add the requirement that they be making some sort of stupid noise too.
