But the powerful CDU grouping that represents Germany’s small- and medium-sized enterprises has said that as the economy is suffering from a lack of skilled workers, no one should have a legal entitlement to do what it refers to as “lifestyle part-time work”.

the conservative has told voters their country’s prosperity will not be maintained “with a four-day week and work-life balance”.

If your economy is failing because people are working four days a week instead of five, that extra day of labor exploitation is probably not going to matter that much.

The “right to part-time work” - as it’s also referred to in German - disproportionately affects single parents, most of them women, who will not get help from the jobcenter nor is the child support from the other parent enough for the basic needs. So while already raising kids in this shithole of a country, a lot of single parents also work part-time during the time their kids go to the kindergarten or school, so that they at least have some additional income. With whatever bullshit the CDU is cooking up now, it will become impossible for a lot of single parents to work at all, and even if they can, they need to prove that they can’t take care of kids and work full-time? Fucking WHEN should they do it, CDU? Everything about this is fucked up, this is just one point that makes me fucking furious.
