CEOs don’t buy their employer’s shares, they get paid in shares.
One issue with owning shares from your employer is that you are hit twice when the company is doing badly. Your shares lose value, while you get fired.
I am not in principle opposed to owning some shares from your employer. This way you have some say in how the company develops. But that shouldn’t come at the cost of diversification in your investments.
