I don’t have time right now to corroborate this. Also, if you rely on .world News/Politics, start checking modlogs on removals, they’re gobsmacking. A particular mod likes to remove threads as a sneaky way to rm comments.

An amendment added to this funding bill was later removed. Not great but also not like it’s always been there
The amendment was to not deport citizens, was my understanding, but it was way early, so I need to listen again.
Right, but it’s not like it’s been there for years and years. This is something she wanted to add now, and they took it back out after.
It’s still not a great look either way, but in my mind at least, it’s not as bad this way
The bill should have defunded them altogether. It’s rotten to the core.
