The right-leaning Australian Jewish Association (AJA) said Sammy Yahood’s visa was cancelled three hours before his flight was due to depart.
The AJA has criticised the cancellation of Yahood’s visa, and said he was scheduled to speak to the AJA in major synagogues and to other organisations across Australia.
“Sammy is the latest Jew to have his visa cancelled by this government. As in other cases, they wait until the last minute,” the organisation wrote on X.
“Parliament just voted to increase the powers of Toby [sic] Burke to cancel visas as an apparent response to support the Jewish community following the Bondi massacre.”
The AJA described one event, due to be held in Melbourne, as “a unique introductory session to self defence. Working through physical exercises to learn essential techniques and principles for personal safety. Let’s take accountability for our security together.”

Yahood has made multiple posts on X, formerly Twitter, calling Islam a “murderous ideology”, a “disgusting ideology”, and claiming Islam “cannot be trusted to simply ‘co-exist’”. On 6 November, he wrote on X: “It’s time to ban Islam. It’s time to stop being tolerant of those that are not tolerant of us.”

Judaism isn’t as expansionist as Islam, but I’ll give you that the orthodox community is absolutely awful to women and children, and there are violent extremist sections like in Islam. We should abolish both - and also Christianity, while we’re at it.

I’d need a source on Judaism being expansionist. From what I learned, they actively discourage converts, and the world population is in the millions, not over a billion as Islam is. Also, by abolish, I didn’t mean legally prohibit belief. That would never work, anyway, god is a higher authority than the law. I just meant we should get rid of the religions - through education, teaching critical thinking, valuing truth, etc. And certain harms carried out by religion should also be made illegal, but that’s not restricting belief, just harmful actions that affect other people - as we already do.

That answer has displayed, yet again, a complete lack of understanding of the individual and societal drivers that cause radicalisation. These are all radicalised people, harming others. Islamist terror attacks might be more numerous against Australians now, but they won’t be forever, and by targeting the group and not the root societal causes you leave the real problems to fester and harm different groups of people, out of each different group (religious or other) some will be radicalised.
