I adopted Toby and he’s THE most affectionate cat I’ve ever had. He’s 13. I love him already. Only adopted him yesterday.

I hope my other cat gets along with him. I REALLY don’t want to send him back.

At the shelter, he was scared and was hissing and spitting. but i fell in love with him. Now, he’s a cuddle bug and always has to be touching me.

He will show his love and appreciation every day. You may not want it at times, but you will get it. Congratulations on having a heart and a new kitty.

As long as he is willing to send the affection, I’m willing to accept it.

Also, he can only stay if my resident cat and he get along. She was here first, so she gets first say. I’m going to do EVERYTHING i can to get them to get along, because i love both of them.

Currently got them eating at the door next to each other, with the door closed. My resident old lady has only hissed once, so it’s looking promising.

Also, FWIW, I only rescue. I wholeheartedly disagree with breeders when there are millions of cats and dogs every day being euthanised because no one wants them :( Now I’m teary :(

thank you. I’m not giving up on either cat. whether it takes a month or a year, or not at all, I’m not giving up on them. I love my old girl, and i well and truly fell in love with mr toby.

He’s 13 and happy to have a home and a person, cats sense these things. I’m happy you adopted this old gentleman but don’t you fucking dare send him back to die in a shelter after saving him!

He is a good baby and deserves all of the loves. It’s amazing how a change of environment can really help.

yup. he’s a good little guy. I feel so bad for the cats in the shelter. it’s such a scary place, and they’re not their true self. people coming to adopt see the cats at their worst state. I don’t think anyone would have adopted Toby, because he was hissing and scared when the enclosure was opened. :(

The older boys are often the most cuddly. I have an 18-year old orange boy and all he wants is contact. It’s lovely.

aww. that’s awesome. It’s nice to have someone who gives a shit if you’re there lol. My other girl is VERY independent. She just lazes around in her twilight years. She doesn’t like being picked up, but tolerates it when i do. so yeah, it’s nice to have an affectionate cat.

Awwww! Take your time with acclimating the kitties. You’re doing it right with the feeding by the door. Brush them both with the same brush so they share fur back and forth and start to smell familiar to each other before they meet. We had good success with a Feliway Multicat plugin, if it fits your budget.

yup. there’s no rush to introduce them. if it takes a week or a year, it’s fine. I don’t do much with my time, so neither is being left out in terms of attention. and yeah, I already have been using the same brush and I have also been rubbing blankets on each of them then putting them next to the other. Though, it seems like toby is perfectly fine with other cats. He wants to get into the room with my elderly girl to meet, but it’s too early yet. Feliway is a good option. I will check it out

ofc. I love both my cats and am trying to split my time between them equally, so neither feels the other is getting more attention than the other. But yeah, it’s great having such an affectionate kitty. he follows me around the room and always wants attention from me. it’s awesome <3
