If you’ve never played Path of Exile before, this version of the game is more complicated.

If you have played Path of Exile before, this version of the game replaces the 19 ascendancy classes with 19 different ascendancy classes. The atlas tree has been replaced by atlas idol items. You collect idols by killing monsters and you place the idols into the atlas machine to get extra loot from your play areas.

The nodes of the atlas tree have been made into mods on the idols. This makes it possible to stack up atlas modifiers in a way that usually is not possible. For example, last Phrecia league it was possible to reach 200% increased map modifier effect multiplier, while the regular atlas tree only allowed you to reach 84% map mod effect multiplier. The difference between these value results in at least twice as much loot from your zones.

There were many other atlas modifiers that could be stacked and abused. For example, I think you could achieve 95% chance to not wilt harvest crops. This effectively doubled the amount of harvest plots you have with the ‘Crop Rotation’ strategy.

One issue with the previous Phrecia league was that it was difficult to set up a functioning atlas strategy by trading with other players. Many players were hesitant to sell their idols and would not respond when engaged. Patch 3.27 introduced the asynchronous trade system which allows you to trade with other players without having to interact with them directly. A player sets a price on their item at the merchant NPC and you buy the item from the merchant NPC. Now you don’t have to wait to trade with a player manually. Trade friction is solved.

I got into it for a bit a few years back and i think because it’s the ARPG that really nailed the ‘seasonal’ game loop and the economy is like entirely barter with others that can throw SP people off. i know i was fucking confused for like 3 seasons

Titan Quest was the other story-based/sp friendly ARPG i have nostalgia for

POE 2 is a bad game. I wish it never existed. GGG is promising to continue developing both games indefinitely because POE 2 is a different type of game.

Also POE 2 is still in “beta”, so it shouldn’t be the main focus. They shouldn’t abandon a full project for an unfinished project.

They have currently promised to alternate expansion releases between each game at 2 months each league. POE 1 patch 3.27 was launched on October 31 2025. POE 2 patch 0.4 was released on December 12 2025. They are planning to release POE 1 patch 3.28 in early march. This means that 3.27 was only given 6 weeks of uninterrupted game play time, while patch 0.4 was given 12 weeks of play time. If you include 3 weeks of Phrecia into this situation, it makes things more even. 3.27 gets bumped up to 9 weeks and 0.4 is reduced to 9 weeks, making them even play time.

it’s not released and the reason this event is happening is because they’re spacing out POE1 leagues more than they were prior to POE2 development and POE1 players have nothing to do as a result.

If you like POE 1, you should definitely play Phrecia. I consider the last Phrecia league to be the best POE league of all time. With 19 different ascendance, there are so many new build possibilities. The idols also allow for unconventional mapping strategies. Last Phrecia league, I made like 8 mirrors in less than 3 weeks.

We haven’t received the patch notes for Phrecia 2 yet, so we don’t know all the specifics but I have high hopes.

I think Keepers League (3.27) was an okay league. The ground loot was nerfed and the nerf to map mod effect made that even worse. The Monastery Tree was was pretty good for crafting. Foulborn Uniques were a fun addition to the game. Graft Hands were also a good power boost to builds. The Breach Hand mechanic inside maps felt pretty unrewarding and also somewhat intrusive into other content. The addition of merchant tabs made trading much smoother.

I didn’t play POE 2 Druid League (0.4). I saw a few streams with people running the league temple mechanic and getting a lot of divine orbs. I don’t like a lot of the design principles of POE 2.

The next POE 1 league (3.28) will be released early March. The next POE 2 league (0.5) should be released late April or early May.

Some things that will make this phrecia league different than last phrecia league is that the last one was combined with Settlers league, which had Settlers weapon enchants.

This phrecia league will be combined with Keepers league. Keepers league has foulborn uniques and grafts. Most importantly, bloodline ascendancies have been added to the core game. This will allow you to do a hybrid ascendancy of a Phrecia ascendancy and Bloodline ascendancy.

Settlers nodes have been added to the atlas mod pool after the last phrecia league. Settlers atlas mods on idols could be very powerful. The “lost in transit” node says Settlers ore deposits has a 6% chance to get converted to “lost shipments”. I’m predicting that there will be an idol for this mod which offers maybe 10% chance for lost shipment conversion with a possibility for 4 idols of this type. 40% chance of lost shipment conversion would be a very interesting mapping strategy.

There’s a settlers node which says that bismuth deposits have a 30% chance to give an additional loot modifier to magic monsters. If this mod is on idols, it could be useful for adding extra loot to monsters. i’m not sure if such a idol mod would allow for multiple loot mods to magic monsters.

The crimson iron node says 2 additional corrupted growths per ore deposit, this could potentially stack to spawn a lot of monsters if on idols. The orichalum ore node says 100% increased duration monster spawning time; this could potentially spawn a lot of monsters.

There could be a keystone idol for “Refiner’s Bargain”. Refiner’s Bargain keystone says that Harvest crops are converted to settler’s crops at a 1.5x multipier and delve sulphite is converted to settler’s ore at a 0.15x multiplier. In the last settler’s league it was possible to reach over 100k Harvest crop juice per map, converting this to settler’s crops could be a reasonable way to acquire mirror shards. Converting sulphite to settler’s ore could be a reasonable way to acquire tattoos.

My favorite strategy from last phrecia league was divination card strongboxes. It was possible to stack converting strongboxes to divination card boxes and you would get up 3000-4000 divination cards every map.
