As a caffeine addict, caffeine is a bullshit drug. It’s got no high at all, it only makes you numb to tiredness. You ARE tired, and you perform like you’re tired, you just can’t feel it. And once your system gets used to it, not having it makes your eye sockets ache.

    Fuck caffeine. But…gimme.

For me, joint pain is also a part of the treat, specifically hips and lower back. First time I went cold turkey I thought I was gonna end up in the ER until my dumbass realized what was going on.

Idk if it’s because I’m prone to headaches anyway so I don’t notice them, or if the self medication aspect of caffeine (adhd) is some sort of crash helmet, but I haven’t gotten caffeine withdrawal headaches. Ever, to my knowledge. I hear they are pretty nasty, but I’ve had intense headaches daily for 20+ yrs now so these might just not register. I’m not exactly a light coffee drinker… I like the anxious energy jitter buzz gives me, similar to a rough dose of my adhd meds. It’s good energy (especially the anxiety rider) for getting things done.

I know this is a joke, but just wanted to let people know that you can wean yourself off caffeine slowly and have absolutely no headaches.

Start by replacing one caffeine drink per day with one decaffeinated drink. Stay with that for a couple of days and then just keep increasing it to 2 then 3. Stay with that for a couple days and then get up to the point where you’ve replaced half of your caffeine with non caffeinated and stay with that for maybe a couple days or a week.

You have to go really slow and then you just get to the point where you’re only having one caffeine drink a day. And you’ll never get a headache, but it takes like weeks, literally weeks to do it, but it’s worth it to have no headaches and really no lack of energy.

I went from one caffeine drink a day (albeit soft drink) to zero, and it still wrecked me for a week. Dunno if that’s because soft drink has more caffeine than coffee?

Okay. I’ve never heard of somebody only drinking one caffeine drink a day. I feel like if that’s all you’re drinking it’s such a low amount of caffeine you probably don’t even need to quit.

Most people drink a lot of caffeine a day, and for some, every single drink they have has some caffeine in it. Those are the people that might need to cut back or quit or cut down to one caffeinated drink per day, which would be a good goal too.

I drink the same cup of coffee everyday, and I deliberately limited myself to one cup when I started drinking coffee.

Because I was getting caffeine from softdrink, a soft drink a day was not healthy in of itself. So that’s why I quit caffeine.i can’t stand the taste of coffee.

Other than the 5 days in bed, I’m pretty happy now, so was worth it.

I feel like this is uninformed (in all honesty, I’m no expert, However!) My point is it’s a drug and your mind/body becomes dependant on it whatever your constitent dosage is.

Still need to taper. My tails were more like months.
