At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if they wanted to dredge up all the DDT we dumped off the coast of California for further use on crops.
You’d be surprised. I work in pest control in California and it is heavily restricted and regulated. The plan is to phase out all pesticide use by 85% by 2050 instead relying on integrated pest management (which is what we should be doing in the first place. Chemicals should always be a last resort).
I have to report to each county each month exactly how much of which product was put down and how many times. The company I work for was recently fined $1200 just for an employee having the wrong label on his equipment. We get stopped by Dept of ag multiple times per month in the field for random inspections and the fines are very serious and getting heavier. I have hope that these chemicals will all be non existent in the near future but those older more dangerous chemicals are gonna be around for decades to come.
