    He’s been quietly getting closer to them since he was elected.

    Obviously a good thing. Being more isolationist is no good, and neither is tying ourselves exclusively to the US.

      He has but aside from “letting the passage of time pass” I don’t understand why we can’t signal with clarity that rejoining is the path we want to pursue. The US and India deals are jokes. Literal jokes. No serious commentator believes they outweigh an EU membership. So why is Starmer pretending?

      Now to be fair there are a lot of salty French people that don’t want to touch us with a barge pole for decades (understandable) which would be the reality check to rejoining. But that’s but what I’m talking about. I’m talking about signalling from the government: “Our aim is to rejoin but there is a long way to go”. He could leave it at that. But instead he says dumb shit all the time.
