Backlash is growing after the New York Post described prominent children’s content creator Ms Rachel as a “controversial YouTube star” following her appointment to New York City mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani’s inaugural committee, a label critics say reflects a broader effort to stigmatise pro-Palestine speech.
Parents and activists online pushed back sharply, arguing that opposing the killing of children is a basic humanitarian stance, not a controversial opinion. At the same time, Mamdani has drawn support from progressives for assembling an inauguration slate that openly reflects the coalition that powered his election victory.
What would a pernicious system, with a formidable pressure valve for discontent, look like? One that still neuters effective support for those on the ground fighting genocide and re-purposes any nominal anti-imperialism only to further the latter’s antagonist.
oh boy, they got slammed, oh no
Not saying Ms Rachel should ever be smeared or libeled, she deserves all the protection we can collectively offer her, but i really hate editorial headline words so very much
I don’t know why but when I was younger the mental image I got whenever I read “slams” in a news article was the person in question actually, literally slamming the palm of their hand on a table.
PeeOnYou Slams, middleeasteye’s editorial headline words so very much!
Alright I’m a bit out of the loop. Ms Rachel was picked for what position exactly?
NY Post said she was a “controversial” pick but the controversy is that she was called one of the top 100 antisemities of the year for insisting that kids shouldn’t be bombed or starved regardless of where they were born.
I’m aware of who Ms Rachel is, but I was wondering for what position she’s being picked for exactly. I couldn’t care less what the zionist media rags have to say about her supposed antisemitism, I really hope she wins the whole thing, that would just further discredit the zionist entity.
Ya, I’m wondering, too. What’s happening with the Mamdani inaugural team? And what is that? And why does it matter if she’s in it?
