So a few years ago I worked as a stripper for like a year and a half to pay for some things. Looking back I really regret doing it. I’m always about people finding out about it in the future and it effecting my employability. So far nobody except a few friends know about and I hope to keep it that way but I’m worried that in the future it could come back to bite me.
Is there anyway I can keep this thing permanently hidden and if not then what should I do in the future if someone finds out? Like, how badly would it effect my image and is there anything I can do about it? What do I say to people of they find out?
Hi, current adult entertainer here to try to reassure you.
If you don’t aspire to work as/in any of the following:
- teacher
- childcare
- politician
- lawyer
- law enforcement
- employee of a religious institution
then career-wise, you’re golden. With the rise of easy AI deepfakes that effectively neuter any “damming photographic evidence,” my guess is those categories are going to start dwindling, even.
If someone at your workplace tries to “out” you, more likely their ass is getting sacked for harassment than you getting any direct repercussions (though obviously it could be socially damaging and that’s still not ideal).
Social reputation is another animal and largely depends on your family and friend group dynamics. I’m lucky enough to have a sex-positive immediate family and friends, and after years of trying to hide how I was affording college and NYC rent, I just got sick of trying to maintain elaborate lies. So mom knows I’m a dominatrix now, lol. But there are plenty of family members and several friends I either still actively hide that info from, or at least don’t go out of my way to offer it.
You and I have one lucky thing in common which is that as live performers, “outing” us is a double edged sword that also damages the reputation of the accuser. “If you’re claiming I was an adult entertainer, then you would have to have been a patron of adult entertainment to witness it.” Mutually assured destruction, in a way.
Keep on living your life as discreetly about your past as you feel comfortable, and it’s very unlikely anyone will be able to, let alone want to, damage your reputation. If some fucking scumbag decides to go there, see if a lawyer can help you sue the fuck out of them for invasion of privacy and defamation (they’ll probably drop the accusations because people like that are little bitches who fold when anyone stands up to them).
Feel free to DM me anything else you might wanna discuss. Hope this helps! <3
“politician”
You sure about that? Anna Paulina Luna doing a killing rn
you know I did consider putting a footnote about Mary Carey or others in the industry who have tried (and sometimes succeeded) to go into politics but I figured my post was already way fuckin long lol
There’s not a lot of difference now that I think of it.
. Both will do anything for money . Both require performing on a stage . Both pretend to like people
well now I think I’ll be able to shrug it off if anyone tries to insult me for my profession, as long as they don’t remind me what I have in common with a politician 😂💀
The only difference is that politicians can keep they’re job until they’re 90.
You’re paranoid. No really. When it happens the first time, it will make time go slow, your heart will race, you will feel like you’re on fire, your pits will sweat, and you will have no idea what you’re gonna say.
And afterwards, you’ll think about that moment and cringe and mention it to someone who was there and they’ll tell you they didn’t think you were freaking out and in fact you handled it like a badass and everyone gained a newfound respect for you that day.
Seriously. Shame is powerful because of you, not because of them. You’ll get through it. You’ll end up more powerful, not less.
Has something similar happened to you? You seem to have a good understanding of the situation at hand.
Don’t ask
Genuine question, how would someone finding out about it affect your employability? Unless the person who finds out is your boss and he has a grudge against sex workers, it’s not your employer’s job to be policing your past actions if they have no bearing on your current employment.
Sadly there’sa ton of places that will not hire you if that is in your background
If someone can’t accept this part of your past and the circumstances that led to it, fuck them and they don’t deserve you in their life. Being a stripper doesn’t inherently make you a bad person.
But if you’re wanting to keep people from finding out then make sure you delete any digital reference to it, especially if it can be tied to you. Like this post would be bad if you use this username elsewhere, or if you later reveal enough information on this account to identify you. Do regular internet searches of your name and try to remove content you don’t like.

Well, there isn’t much evidence of it online. Most things where done it person and I’ve never used this username before. Also, if there was I don’t think you could remove it from the Internet. I’m not Chris Chan.
How on earth would they find out?
You can’t run from your past forever. Sooner or later it comes around.
Do you need to run from it? In your post you say you regret it, but there is no shame in it. If someone really cares that much about it, perhaps that’s just a signal that they don’t need to be around you.
Worst case scenario some skeeve comes into your current job claiming he recognizes you. At which point you get offended and deny everything. Unless there’s a bunch of pictures and videos floating around of you from your days as a stripper but as far as I know that’s not exactly allowed in strip clubs?
Not even offended, just confused.

“It wasn’t me” - Shaggy
“Unless there’s a bunch of pictures and videos floating around of you from your days as a stripper but as far as I know that’s not exactly allowed in strip clubs?”
The club I worked in did you just weren’t allowed to record or take photos of anything.
No evidence. Never happened.
“If I can’t prove I wasn’t at the club will you promise to never tell a soul who you tipped, no one else was sober when it happened”
