Just had his first match in 2 years at Blissmas '25 (a show run by the Butcher) so we can probably expect his AEW/ROH return soonish.

Good one, and good for him getting back there. Hope they know what to do with him if he’s back on AEW.

Aside, I loved the whole concept of Butcher And Blade in AEW. When they first appeared, that kind of thing gets me - two hard asses, No idea who they are, turned up and stomped some ass.

But as I recall there was a while lot of “who are they? This is dumb”, “they should have been introduced in vignettes first” and so on. Is this what wwe trained people to want?

Yes, but that and we’re now living in a culture where a lot of people online have horridly declining levels of media literacy (and just fucking plain old literacy in general…get hooked on phonics, people!) so if details and info aren’t spoonfed to people directly and immediately they’re kinda DOA to whatever the product is.

We used to call these people the village idiots but then we gave em internet connections and they made larger villages lol.

My sole complaint (given I knew maybe half AEW’s starting roster and was totally fine with not knowing shit from fuck wrestler-wise) was Excalibur’s commentary.

      “Who are they?”
“IT’S THE BUTCHER AND THE BLADE!!!”
      “…WHO?”
      “…THE…BUTCHER…AND THE BLADE!”

Like all he had to say was “They’re a hot indie tag team that have been demolishing wrestlers in $insert-fuckass-indie-name-here” and their introduction woulda been 100% fine in my own eyes.
