That’s not even all of the bullshit.

In every other mouse the sensor is at the center of the body. On magic mouse the sensor is at the front under your fingers as you can see in the OP thumbnail.

That makes it very hard to adapt to when you’re coming off of other mice. When you’re moving the mouse you better not slightly rotate it out of habit and ergonomics because the cursor will move weird.

I really tried giving it a shot because I like apple gestures. They work fabulously well on the trackpad. The magic mouse is garbage in every category really.

I have been using LogiTech mice since 1994 and I don’t intend to stop until I’m dead.

If LogiTech goes bankrupt, I will spend the rest of my life buying used mice.

Logitech definitely doesn’t deserve this level of brand loyalty but I basically feel the same way

The mouse charging port is on purpose so you buy two mice. Apple sucks guys stop pretending they do much to benefit you. When you buy a new iMac it comes with one charging cable for two devices lol.

The design hasn’t changed since it was AA batteries; it was not designed with the rechargeable battery pack in mind.

The worst you can say really is that it was a lazy upgrade, which is totally valid.

My guess is they didn’t want to redesign the top surface for aesthetics or charitably, perhaps technical reasons to do with the combo touch / click area at the front, and the front is the only place you’d want a port.

Could also be the sensor, smack bang in between the batteries and where you’d want the port… they should’ve just redesigned it, but they probably thought everybody should go trackpad so why bother

I thought it was to force people to use it as a wireless mouse and not just leave it plugged in all the time. Or so someone said. Still annoying but not really on the level of “we’re trying to force you to buy two”.

    • This mouse was released when Apple favored a clean design over everything else. While i don’t agree with that decision, it lasts for days with just a couple of minutes of charging. Getting people to buy it twice just for that reason had nothing to do with it, who in their right mind would do that?

I can tell you as someone who is forced to work professionally on a Mac this is by far the stupidest design choice the company has ever made. It’s a lightning port, could easily be fit into the front of the mouse with a basic alteration to the body. I have a backup mouse for when my mouse dies in the middle of working and I don’t wanna stop and wait 20 mins to charge the damn mouse. I also have a wired dell mouse but it only supports up-down scrolling so I prefer to just have two magic mice.

        • Totally agree, I guess the horizontal scrolling is its only redeeming quality. I did not now it was a lightning connector, that makes it even worse. If I remember correctly you can thank Johnny Ive for this shit.

Thanks, this post reminded me to charge my mouse before I forget and find it dead tomorrow when I actually need it.

Is the charging port on the underside? So you can’t use it whilst it’s charging?

Not only is it on the underside, when it’s plugged in the sensor stops working. You literally can’t use it plugged in.

That is evident. The bigger issue is ergonomics. My hand will cramp up within minutes of using that piece of shit. While the charging thing is stupid, it is only a minor inconvenience that is blown out of proportion. The ergonomics aspect is the major issue IMO.

i don’t get it. what was the flaw of the new iPhone? Not interesting in getting one or any Apple product, just to know what again these bitches at Apple ‘anti-patterned’.
