Oh. “Integration”, huh? Is that that we’re calling colonialism and hostile takeover now?

Right… like Hong Kong is “self-ruled”. We all know how that played out.

I never understood the Chinese government’s obsession with Taiwan.

Like I get the CCP says they’re the real Chinese government, and Taiwan says they’re the real government, but why does the CCP care so much?

Taiwan is a small island nation, who’s only major economic asset is semiconductor production. Mainland china doesn’t need anything from Taiwan, and attacking Taiwan would only endanger the CCP economically and militarily.

Some people call the CCP a fake government and they get so upset they’re willing to risk a war with the US is absolutely insane.

You have to keep in mind that Chinese culture is very honor-based, for all that it doesn’t indulge in the so-called “honor” killings that make the news from time to time. So ultimately, despite whatever justifications people might spout, it just boils down to the fact that Taiwan represents a loss of face to the mainland, because for all that the KMT lost, the CCP never managed to actually finish them off.

Without Taiwan China have little basis for its claims on the southern China sea. Look about “the nine lines” to understand it better.

So basically they’re trying to justify further in the future imperialist aims with closer to the future imperialist aims. It’s basically the classic Marxist imperial strategy. The Soviet Union wasn’t too different.

You know when kids play roshambo and then one kid screams “I’m the winner” and the other kid being not too happy also screams “ Noo! I’m the winner!”

No need. Long range removal of Three Gorges Damn is guaranteed if China invades Taiwan & that’s all the destruction of multiple nukes with none of the lingering radioactivity.

No need to remove that dam, it’s going to fail on its own. It’s been structurally unsound for years.

Maybe, but Taiwan can’t take it out on its own, they need an indigenous deterrent

I have no idea why you’d think that.

Nonetheless, in a scenario of a Chinese invasion of Taiwan, Taiwanese defence planners have since the 1990s discussed using long-range missiles to hit the dam. Given the concurrent tense relations between India and China, with Indian generals warning of military escalation, this may also be a likely target should further conflict break out.

The USA & Israel can shoot some missiles down, sometimes. 0 evidence that China has that capability anywhere else besides paper.

Taiwan has hundreds of LRM launchers already targeting that dam, with the option to buy hundreds more from Uncle Sam.

China attacks Taiwan & hundreds of Chinese cities die in their entirety, immediately.

              Simple as.

And you can launch more than one missile. You can also launch MIRVs. Or multiple MIRVs. The point being, with US backing, Taiwan has many fun toys to use against the Chinese to make their lives hell even without us showing up to the party – which we would, with very minimal fucking about, because Taiwan’s got dem microchips. And we want dem microchips.

Even Israel have problems stopping everything when the swarms if missiles are large though, and those missiles don’t even have notable evasive maneuvering

Talked to an ex-CIA agent. She couldn’t share any real secrets but did say that there are enough nukes on one submarine to destroy the entire world. The missiles also break apart into lots of other missiles. In other words, if they aren’t shot down soon after launching, we’re all fucked.
