How do I know you’re not in on the joke? For all I know, the Internet exists only to gaslight me into believing asparagus grows like this. You won’t fool me that easily; I’m onto you!
Well you don’t.
It does grow like that, but then it spreads out into whispy ferns that look a little like dill. Plenty of people who only ever see the young spears that are eaten don’t recognize the fully grown plant.
