Funny thing. This used to be the main reason for government - to stockpile foods in case of times of famine. Literally. Before the Code of Hammurabi; before government stepped in and took responsibility for dispensing justice (as opposed to taking matters into your own hands, and starting feuds, which is how things used to run); the whole purpose for government was hoarding food. Well, and wars. But also food.

I just think it’s funny that every government on the planet has abdicated that responsibility, one of the two fundamental origins of the institution.
