Ever since we’ve gone to hybrid working, I’ve been having to deactivate work notifications and enable game notifications back and forth and it’s driving me nuts.
I have a Pixel 9 Pro XL and would like a way to allow app notifications to come through based on a variable that I can control. At my disposal I have Tasker and Home Assistant but can’t find a way to perform automations to enable or disable specific app notifications.
Is there a way to do this? I have to imagine other people have this problem.
Buzz Kill is the perfect app for notification management. Honestly was a life changer for me. Has loads of options and is easy to use. You should be able to try before you buy, but if not, check out a YouTube video on it if you’re unsure about spending money on it.

Just downloaded Buzzkill but it looks like I still have to toggle the rules. I’d like to do it based on location or something like that. Ideally it would be a variable I could flip (one toggle vs. 4-5 toggles for each app).
Edit: Nevermind. I read the forking manual. 😅
Thank you for the recommendation! I don’t mind spending money. I’ve got google points that’s expiring constantly so I need to spend them.
But it doesn’t seem like Buzz Kill has a try before you buy. 🤔
Every app has a try before you buy since you can refund it within two hours. Buzzkill is a great app, the developer is nice so even if you miss the refund window and the app isn’t what you want (though I think it will be) there are a lot of worse things to spend your money on.
For $4, I think I can do it. 2 hours isn’t enough time for me to test this but it seems like it can do the job.
And it’s not even $4 for me. So what the hell.
Lemmy recommended!
I can second buzzkill. I was getting frustrated with group chats during work hours buzzing my phone (and my watch) with every single message as they came in. It was incredibly distracting during meetings and such (and putting my phone on silent wouldnt stop the watch notifications). I tried buzzkill to add a “cooldown” to the push notifications for anything that happened twice in a few minutes. You can absolutely set rules on notifications based on things like time of day, or on specific apps.
Check out Buzzkill. I’ve used it to do just that.
